MY STORY....

I was skinny, constantly exhausted and had an obsession with body image and always wanted to be bigger and curvier.

This eventually took a massive toll on my mental health, but I found a way to break through the unhealthy mental and physical habits I had formed. I had no idea about nutrition which lead me into forcing myself to eat everything in sight, good and bad to try and gain weight.

My transformation is from being skinny, unhappy and unhealthy to being strong, confident and full of life!

I am a Scottish powerlifter i and online coach who lives and breathes an active lifestyle. I live by a healthy, wholesome diet, work hard in the gym but also recognise the importance of rest and balance in life.

My personal experiences of overhauling my lifestyle has driven me to inspire and help others to do the same - no matter what your starting point is.

About me: Welcome

THE OLD ME....

I have always led a very active lifestyle and played sports from a young age ranging from kickboxing, rugby, football, jet skiing and even motor sports.

I have had a gym membership for as long as I can remember, and always loved challenging myself in the weights room.

My own personal health and fitness journey has certainly had its ups and downs. I have always suffered from body dysmorphia , Growing up I was so skinny weighing around 46kg and thought that I looked like a little boy, I was very straight up and down and always struggled to hold any kind of weight.

I went to the doctors on regular occasions but all they kept telling me was to eat more. I then began to stuff myself with anything and everything, Yes I gained weight but the wrong kind and on the wrong places. I soon realised the only thing I could do was build muscle and eat correctly then finally I would be able to get that body I craved.

It all stemmed from some very heartbreaking news when I was 21 which took its tole on my mental health, I had two options, either give up and go down the wrong path or suck it up and keep on going and better myself with a new journey and passion for weightlifting.

I was very uneducated about training and the importance of food as fuel for your body. In the gym I was very anxious and avoided lifting weights for fear of getting ‘bulky’ and let’s be honest - it’s quite intimidating walking in to a room full of males and not knowing how to use the equipment!

I started to research various exercise techniques and ways to weight train, and finally built some confidence to get into the weights room. After this I realised looking around me that if guys can do it then why can’t girls? Why should you feel by lifting heavy weights it would make you masculine. I then self taught myself by watching the guys in the gym. I watched their form, what muscle groups they were training and even counted their reps until I was comfortable in making my own programme.

THE NEXT CHAPTER...

So after a while I decided to take it to the next level by getting a personal trainer for a few months before realising I didn’t actually need one.

I knew what I was doing, it came naturally to me... in fact I started to help friends, family and even other people in the gym.

I always struggled with what I wanted to do in life, I was never one for having my head in a book and always struggled to keep an interest at school, I preferred learning visually and always needed to be active.

It was then in 2016 I realised that I was spending all my free time at the gym helping others and training myself that I knew that was what I wanted to do, become a personal trainer to help people change their life the way I did mine, not just physically but also mentally.

From then on I have never looked back!

THE NEW ME...

I have a newfound love for lifting heavy. I have tried it all, and I have come to the realisation that cardio is 100% not for me. I have always enjoyed the weights more and focused mainly on bodybuilding but always preferred lower reps and heavier weights.

I absolutely admire all these wonderful men and women that get on stage and compete, it takes real dedication and drive to do this but it’s just not for me.

With that in mind I did always fancy competing so that’s where powerlifting has came into my life. Having the strength to squat and deadlift over double my bodyweight is very empowering! This February I qualified at the eastern districts in the 72kg weight category weighing in at 67kg and getting a total of 282.5kg (107.5kg squat/120kg deadlift/55kg bench). I will be doing my first competition in a few months where I will be looking to get some big numbers in.

I cannot wait to start the next chapter of my life to share my knowledge and be able to help transform many life's. Whether you want to lose fat, tone up, or get strong… I’ll be with you every step of the way, challenging you to keep pushing towards your goals and turning dreams into reality!
